I was asked what is the difference between an Egyptian Sekhmet and Bastet the cat in Egypt.

I share here from what I know to be true. Sekhmet and Bastet are both powerful ancient Egyptian lion-goddesses who represent two different aspects of feline power. Sekhmet is the fierce warrior goddess associated with the desert, plague, and war, while Bastet is the gentler goddess of the home, protection, and pleasure, who evolved to be associated with cats.

Sekhmet

Origin: Ancient Egypt.

Appearance: Lioness-headed goddess, often in golden or red attire.

Symbolism: Strength & Power: Fierce protector, goddess of war and vengeance.

Healing & Transformation: Could bring disease, but also cure it—balance of destruction and creation.

Solar Energy: Often associated with the sun, fire, and raw vitality.

Personality/Energy: Intense, commanding, fearless, highly independent.

Bastet (or Cat)

Domestic Cat (general energy, especially lion-like cats):

Appearance: Sleek, graceful, often mysterious.

Personality/Energy: Independent, playful, agile, sometimes fierce. Can be loving and nurturing, yet maintains autonomy

Similarities

Protective Instincts: Sekhmet protects fiercely; cats (and Bastets, in their way) can be guardians of home and family.

Intuitive Take:

If you think in terms of energy archetypes, a Bastet or a cat can carry a small reflection of Sekhmet’s qualities—loyalty, protection, intuition—but in a soft, earthly, loving way rather than fiery, cosmic power. A Bastet may represent Sekhmet’s protective, grounding side, while a cat could embody her independent, fierce, and graceful aspects.

Absolute love

Long before modern medicine and psychology, there existed a sacred art called Iatromathematics — the ancient practice of understanding how the movements of the heavens influence our health, emotions, and destiny. The word itself comes from Greek: iatros meaning “healer” and mathematikos meaning “astrologer.” Together they form “the healing through the stars.”

In ancient Egypt, Babylon, and Greece, priest-healers and temple initiates used this knowledge as part of their Mystery School training. They believed that every planet, every star, and every phase of the Moon reflected divine intelligence. Often the biggest obstacle in achieving your goals lies not in external challenges, but within the complex labyrinth of your own brain unseen, and often underestimated the brain harbors unconscious limiting beliefs, deep-seated fears and unspoken insecurities that can stealthy undermine your efforts. These hidden mental blocks can trigger self-sabotaging behaviors, turning your brain into an inadvertent adversary in your path to success.

What if by reading this you turn your greatest enemy into your greatest ally. What if you could use the nuances of neuroscience to flip this script. Imagine being able to short circuit and rewire your thought patterns, transforming your brain from a subtle saboteur into a powerful accelerator, thereby unlocking your true potential to turn your aspirations into great achievements this year.

Let’s break goal achievement down into parts planning, execution, and follow through. Number one, planning. This is setting achievable and believable goals. For this, you’ll use the 85% rule. Here’s the neuroscience. Your brain thrives on challenge and achievement. When you set goals that you believe you can achieve at least 85% of the time, you engage the brain’s reward circuits, releasing dopamine and a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and motivation, for example.

Improving eating habits for better health. A goal might be to make healthier food choices 85% of the time, or enhance daily productivity. Set a goal to complete 85% of your planned tasks each day efficiently, or learning a new language or a musical instrument. Set a goal to have 85% successful practice sessions where you grasp and apply new concepts or techniques correctly.

Unlike the all or nothing goals, where a single miss can lead to feelings of failure. And abandonment. The 85% rule encourages sustainable motivation and learning by accommodating occasional setbacks. The 85% rule nurtures an adaptable and persistent pursuit of goals, fostering continuous improvement without the crippling pressure of perfection.

Number two, execution. Your greatest enemy in the execution process is procrastination. Here’s the neuroscience, the basal ganglia, a crucial part of the brain are instrumental in initiating action and overcoming procrastination. When faced with a task, especially a daunting one, these structures can become a bottleneck leading to procrastination.

So here’s what you can do to unblock it. When you start with small, manageable tasks, you effectively send a clear go signal to the basal ganglia. This simple action lowers the mental barrier to getting started as the task appears less intimidating and more achievable. Once this initial go signal is sent, the task is underway.

The basal ganglia become more active in maintaining this momentum, making it easier to continue with the task at hand and subsequently take on larger tasks. Essentially, tackling small tasks first sets off a positive chain reaction in the brain, paving the way for increased productivity and reduced procrastination.

For example, if your big goal is to run a marathon, begin with very short runs or brisk walks for just 10 to 15 minutes a day. Then gradually increase your distance and intensity over weeks and months, or learning a new language. Start with learning a few common phrases or words dedicating just 10 minutes daily to using language learning, maybe on an app.

Then slowly increase your scope to more complex sentences, grammar rules, and eventually conversational practice, or say, improving time management by targeting one part of your day at a time, like your morning routine. Then apply similar strategies to other chunks of your day. You can use the Insane Productivity course to help you if you need it.

Number three, follow through where most everyone screws up. Here’s the neuroscience, your anterior cingulate cortex, we’ll call it the ACC is a part of your brain that greatly helps when working towards big goals. It does three important things. A, it keeps you focused on your goal. B, it notices when you make a mistake and helps you fix it. And, and C, it helps you stay calm when things get tough. To continue to activate your ACC, have visible progress tracking that is reviewed continually. You can do that with journaling every day. That is what I do. This will continue to kick you’re ACC into gear and help you adjust your strategies based on your progress.

Understanding and leveraging the neuroscience behind goal achievement can transform how you approach your aspirations by aligning your strategies with the way your brain works, you can enhance your ability to set, pursuit and persist. In achieving big goals. In summary, here are your three action items that turn your brain from a goal achieving adversary to a powerful ally.

Number one, set smart goals, and use the 85% rule. You know, SMART acronym is

• specific,
• measurable,
• achievable,
• realistic,

Be thrilled when you’re on track 85% of the time. Number two, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Begin your big goal with a very small, very achievable step, and once momentum progress happens from there.

And number three, visibly track your progress. Keep your powerful ACC activated to help you stay focused, make adjustments, and stay emotionally positive all along the way.

I know this as a fact as when I was nursing I could see within patients brains and the magic that happened was fabulous on how they were goals setting consciously and subconsciously. As I prepare for my Mexico and Peru journeys coming up, many past lives have been coming to me to integrate and clear. And yesterday as I meditated this one past life came up that was so beautiful and relates to now.

In that lifetime I was a shaman but known as a P’akkos. My role was a wise healer. I knew a lot about natural medicines and the universe. My role was to teach and heal the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds for people and animals. Just like I do through Mystery School and Medical Intuition. Today I call it physical and metaphysical.

That lifetime I also connected with the ‘large ones’ who were like ‘alien beings’ that helped me with incantations and also script writing. This comes through as my books today. However, the village where I lived did not like these beings and thought them to be bad so I could only communicate with them at night at 3am and would have to climb mountains to connect with them. It was a long hard walk but I knew I had to do it as I was to be taken through the secret door and vortex.

I also worked with three sacred creatures, the condor, the puma, and the serpent. Each represented a different plane of existence: the condor symbolized the celestial world, the serpent was linked to the world of the dead, and the puma represented the earthly realm. Each would be with me and give me information. Today that links to my love animals.

Most of my time was spent in a network of old, underground tunnels that lies beneath Cusco, Peru which led to lifetimes and linked to the Mayans, Aztecs and Inca knowledge.
